Thank you Ray for your vote of confidence from afar
Welcome to Benzo Island where we are dedicated to helping those individuals who wish to free themselves from a benzodiazepine dependency. We are glad you found us and by doing so it is probably safe to assume that you believe you or a loved one may have an unintentional or unexpected dependency to benzos. You are certainly not alone for throughout the history of this forum we have seen hundreds of members, most being under the misguided care of a trusted physician, who found themselves in the same devastating predicament.
Freeing oneself from a benzodiazepine dependency is not an easy road for many and can take a considerable amount time and effort to do so successfully. Here on this forum we recommend following a proven slow taper method, preferably using Valium as a vehicle. We are confident that by following this method one can significantly decrease the level of withdrawals they will experience, in turn greatly increasing their ability to achieve their goals. Many of our past and present members have successfully freed themselves from the grasps of a long term, and sometimes even a relatively short term use of benzodiazepines by following a slow taper method, obtaining the support of this forum and steadfast determination on their part.
Contrary to what you are led to believe by the majority of the medical profession, as well as the pharmaceutical companies, we have learned that the usage of anti-depressants, anti-psychotics and/or supplements in an attempt to alleviate the withdrawal symptoms experienced while tapering benzos significantly increases the level of withdrawal one experiences rather than gives relief. It also inevitably prolongs the recovery time one must endure considerably; leaving one with yet another drug, or number of drugs to taper from. This is not just a supposition; this is based on much research as well as a vast number of past and present personal experiences of our own members. Those who have tried ultimately experienced unbearably negative results and have, or still are paying the price. Because of this we take a strong stance on not advocating the use of such medications and/or remedies on this forum. Our members and staff can become quite distressed and shielding when promotions and/or debates regarding such appear and therefore, for the harmony and wellbeing of our members and the forum as a whole, debates on matters advocating their use is strongly discouraged nor will it be tolerated. There are plenty of forums where this is acceptable, but this is simply not one of them. Please respect our position.
Bearing that in mind, you will need to register if you haven't done so already, (pre-existing members will need to re-register). When registration is complete you will then find that you have access to the intro area of the forum. Once there we ask that you share with us your experiences with benzodiazepines expressing a sincere desire to rid yourself of them. This introduction process gives us both a chance to familiarize ourselves with one another. During this process we will evaluate your situation and from this we will be better able to determine whether or not we can assist you any further. If we feel we can, we will then help you in setting up a taper schedule as well as set some goals before granting full membership.
Upon membership approval you will then be given access to the main board where you will have access to a vast amount of information as well as be able to converse with hundreds of other individuals who find themselves in similarly undesirable circumstances. There are those who are presently attempting to taper, as well as those who have already gotten off from benzos and/or other dangerous anti-psychotic medications and are either working to regain their lives back, or already have done so and simply remain here to help support those who wish to do the same.
So, if you are ready to begin the journey to free yourself from the grasps of benzodiazepines and regain control of your life by learning how to do a slow, steady taper you can start by following the link below and then on the next page click the "register" link found just below the login box.
